Taking away the challenge of matching wine and curry

Wine story (1)Aromatic spices and herbs, combined with strong flavours, can make wine choices difficult when having a curry. Fortunately, Le Pondicherry Wine has taken the guesswork out of the decision making process, by introducing a range of wines which have been matched to the different flavours in Indian cuisine.

The team at Le Pondicherry Wine say they have scoured the world’s vineyards to find the best wines to complement the many flavours of Indian dishes, and then worked with the Institute of Taste in France to define the best matches to popular dishes. As a result there are now eight wines in the Le Pondicherry range, including three red, three white and two rose, each one identified by a number which makes it easy to select the right wine and make a good match.

For example, for curries with flavours of coconut or with hints of sweetness, then the Le Pondicherry Merlot (Number 3) is considered the ideal wine, while for those who prefer the tastes of coriander or enjoy vegetable curries then the Le Pondicherry Pinot Grigio (Number 6) is best to accompany the meal. For restaurant owners, Le Pondicherry Wine argues this offers an easy way to help customers match wine with their meals, while the company provides a comprehensive support service for businesses, coupling good value wine with attractive point of sale material and staff training.

“We have produced a matrix of tastes and flavours that have been scientifically matched with the aromas, spices and ingredients in Indian cuisine,” says a Le Pondicherry spokesperson,”This means that the wine your staff will be recommending to customers is guaranteed to impress and enhance the dining experience.” For more details please contact ludo@lepondicherry.com
